Rates and policies

Simple, published prices. No contract, no registration fee, no assessment fee, and pay as you go.

Hourly rates
Subject / formatHourly rateIntroductory hour
In person: all undergraduate-level subjects except Statistics$75$35
In person: Statistics$90$45
Remote over Zoom: all subjects, including Statistics$60$30
  • The introductory hour is half off for the first hour with a new student. A travel charge, if one applies, is added as usual.
  • There's a one-hour minimum. Time beyond that is prorated at the same hourly rate. When we're on something important and a few more minutes will make it stick, I'll take them at no charge.
  • Statistics costs more because it's harder to teach well. It leans on strong algebra, and it varies a lot from book to book and teacher to teacher. More on Statistics.

My satisfaction guarantee

If you're not happy with the instruction provided, you don't pay. That applies session by session: when you schedule another appointment, it means you were satisfied with the one that just ended. The only risk to you is the time.

Where we meet

In person, I come to your home or meet at a library or coffee shop. Wherever you're comfortable and can focus without distractions. Remote sessions run over Zoom (how remote tutoring works).

Travel charge (per trip, not per hour)
Distance from S Parker Rd & S Chambers RdCharge
Up to 3 miles$0
Over 3, up to 5 miles$10
Over 5, up to 8 miles$20

Distances over 8 miles are typically out of range, but I consider them case by case. I measure by driving distance, so if a straight-line map circle and the road distance would put you in different brackets, I'll tell you exactly how I got your number.

Travel charge waived at two libraries: Smoky Hill Library and Mission Viejo Library (the one in Aurora, Colorado). Meeting there costs you only the hourly rate.

Group tutoring

Groups cost nothing extra: the hourly rate is simply split among you. They work well when the students have similar skills and similar learning pace, and when the group studies together between sessions. If you're thinking about it, ask me and I'll tell you honestly whether it suits your situation.

Paying

Venmo is easiest, and cash is fine too.

Scheduling

I schedule on a first-come, first-served basis and I try to be flexible. My calendar (Denver time) is on the contact page. Pick a time that looks open and send me a request.
